Today is an exciting day! The launch of this very blog and I couldn’t be more overwhelmed with a passion to share. To share what I know, what I have learnt and what I am stumbling across along the way. I want this blog, Simply Stoked, to be a place where I can feel inspired, and I want it to be a place for you to feel the same. I don’t want this to turn into a ‘how-to’ of life, because I am definitely no expert. But I would like to give you a little look at my own life and perhaps that may make a small difference in yours. I am not perfect, nor do I think my family is. At times there are perfect moments, but with that comes the opposite too. And most of the time, we are just trying to be a little better than we were the day before; however, great or small that may be.
I believe Gordan B. Hinkley’s quote describes my desire to write here perfectly. “You will have significant experiences. I hope you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences.”
I am a first-time mother with a second on the way. Life is busy as a parent, there is no doubt! And time is passing very quickly. So, I have created this blog in hopes that I can reflect on all that comes with being a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunty and a friend. I also want to be able to connect with a community of fellow exhausted mamas who may just need a small distraction from their day-to-day chores. I mean, it’s the golden hour during the day when the babies are taking a nap. I would much rather sit down with my favourite treat, because let’s face it, I deserve it today, and connect with other mothers feeling the same highs and lows of parenthood; than attend to the toys spread out across the living room floor. We all know the kids are only going to wake up and make it just as messy again anyway.
If you want to know a little more about me, I married the love of my life when I was just 20 and we welcomed our baby girl just three short years later. We are now eager to welcome our second child this June 2016. I am born and raised Australian. My husband is as Queensland as they come, but I am a Sydney-sider through. In saying that, I do love living in the Sunshine State, even if a constant layer of sweat is really what the pregnancy ‘glow’ is all about. I am quiet in nature, but get to know me and I can be loud. I enjoy being organised, clean and on top of most things. But I do know how to let go and have fun at the same time.
So, take this as a mission statement if you will. I hope for this to become so much more than just words on a website and I’d love for you to watch it unfold. Feel free to follow me on my social media for a little behind the scenes or subscribe via email (on the right hand side) for all the latest updates.
